Overview

A one-week work experience placement at UCL's Division of Surgery and Interventional Science for school-aged students. Aimed at widening participation and social mobility in medicine and biomedical sciences.

Structure & format

One full week at UCL DSIS between June and September 2026, with exposure to research and clinical environments and the people who work in them.

Pay & benefits

Unpaid.

Eligibility

Aged 16+. Must have completed GCSEs or currently be studying A-Levels or equivalent. Must commit to the full week.

Competitiveness & scale

Selective. limited weekly cohort, high demand from prospective medics and biomedical applicants.

Why this matters

Genuine inside-a-research-faculty exposure at sixth form is rare, especially at this level. Strong evidence for medicine, dentistry and biomedical UCAS personal statements.
