Overview
A four-week paid research internship at UCL's Division of Surgery and Interventional Science. Designed as a widening-participation route into biomedical sciences and academic research, with hands-on exposure to research science and biomedical career pathways.
Four full weeks at UCL DSIS, taking place between June and September 2026. Interns are embedded in a research environment and shadow active biomedical science projects.
Paid at the London Living Wage (£14.80/hour).
Aged 18+ at the start of the placement. Must be an undergraduate student (or equivalent) and able to attend the full four weeks. Strongly encouraged for applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Limited cohort each summer. demand is high given the paid status and UCL brand.
Rare combination: paid, at a top medical-sciences faculty, and explicitly built for widening participation. A strong CV line for medicine, biomedical sciences and research-track applications.
