Key facts
- Degree required: 2:2 and above (expected); Past students have worked on diagnosing plant-wide issues, supporting mechanical systems, and contributing to the safe and efficient running of the station. This placement offers practical learning in a professional environment, supported by experienced teams and mentors. You’ll apply academic knowledge to real industry contexts while completing degree-relevant modules and gaining insight into plant operations within the energy sector.

Eligibility
- To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a bachelor’s degree (2:2 or higher) in a relevant field such as Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK.
- Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility, we reserve the right in our decisions to give priority to those who already have the right to work in the UK.
- To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
- Should you disclose a disability and meet the minimum criteria (which will include holding a relevant degree discipline/grade and achieving the required pass mark for Stage 1 Testing) for the role you’ll be progressed to the first stage of the selection process.
Structure & format
- Working pattern: Your Work Location You’ll be based on site at #Heysham 1 Power Station, within the Operational Technical Support Department.
